Default So much for unbreakable lol! (6k mile S60 go kaput!)

I'm getting off the highway last night and over the realativley loud radio I can't help but notice a 'clack-clack-clack-clack' from the rear end. Whatever it is it's definatley rotational and follows only road speed. I'm hoping it's just something in one of the Strange brakes, maybe a caliper wiggling or something but surley the LAST thought in my mind would be the Superman S60. Get it up on the lift at a local shop and within 5mins it's all but confirmed.. major clackage within the rear when you move either tire or spin the driveshaft by hand!

Unreal.. Aftermath Performance is gonna rip into it today and I'm going to have to talk to Strange soon, I'm holding out hope they'll treat me good considering the rear is all of 14-months old with less than 5k miles on it, on a 400whp car no less..

You wouldn't happen to have a Trutrac in there? From what I have read I doesn't matter what rear end you have cause if it has a Trutrac and you like to launch it hard at the line expect it to fail.

As far as I know this was not a failure of the rear, but an issue with the drag brakes the OP had installed.

Hopefully he returns and gives a bit more info.

Subscribing. Even if this is a rear end failure, I think you can count them on one hand. Actually, I haven't personally come across a complete failure yet. The only thing I could find when I was doing my research was a guy who claimed that his trutrack no longer launches strait. Let us know what happened!

I'd say, if anything, that this will fall under the "defects" catagory and not from exceeding the thresholds.

I've read stories too, but only involving 28 and 31 spline truetracs. The S60 is a 35 spline. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with why there are so few failures with them, but I don't think I've read where anyone has broken one. I'm sure if I looked I could find some stories, but for the most part it's the 12 bolt/M6/monster clutch guys that are having the horror stories.

This was a problem with his brakes. He had gone to an aftermarket (strange drag brake) setup and there were some problems. The rear was not hurt at all.
