What gears for roots blown LS1?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its about time to pull the trigger on an S60 but I'm still confused on gear choice for M6 street/strip car.
Car is right around stock weight (3500 without driver) after some weight reduction. Will have a little bit more here soon on the street and even more for the strip. Making 518 RWTQ with similar HP at lower RPM's. Shifting around 6200-6400 RPM's also.
The car is in the most recent GMHTP if you've seen it.
I'm looking to run a 26" tire, but can go up maybe another inch if I have to on the track.
I've heard I may run out of 4th gear with 4.10's which I definitely don't want.
What about 3.90's?
What's the best way to select gears for an FI car? I'm hoping to only do this once.

Why not 4.11's? Because I don't think 3.73's will get me in my peak powerband in 4th on the backend nor give me the MPH.
A buddy of mine with similar numbers on the spray isn't getting the most out of them. I'm also currently racing at high altitude so those are SAE corrected numbers.

I had a friend with a pro charged trans am. stock motor , 4.10's was to much for it. the car had more time in each gear to use the power with 3.73's and was quicker
i would think that maggie has more lowe end and midrange tq then a procharger and would not need as much gear

I need more front suspension work to get the car to hook properly.
Tire size will most likely be the last thing to figure out. Just have to see how it does at the track once it's all done.
