Default Series 2 / Series 3

I'm buying a set of gears, is there any way to tell if they are series 2 or series 3 gears just by looking at the gears themselves?

Also I have a 2000 Camaro ss with an Auburn posi unit, will I need to use the series 2 or 3 gears in my car?

Thanks.

a 2000 SS M6 would have had a 'torsen' carrier with 3.42s'.
An 'Auburn' would have been an SLP option in place of the 'Torsen'.
