Another wheel bearing thread...short and sweet
Just wanted to let everyone know about the experience I had replacing the rear wheel bearings in my '99 TA. I have read ALL of the threads regarding the repair bearing, but I figured I would see first-hand the fitment issues everyone has seemed to have.
The conclusion: Neither the AZ Timken, nor the Advance National-Moog axle repair bearing will allow my passenger side axle to slide in far enough to re-install the c-clip. I will go as far to say that if you do buy one and install it, and get the c-clip in by some chance, you will have to cut the thing out.
My advice, if you have an axle that is pitted, don't even think about the repair bearing. Just find a new axle, and install the conventional bearing/seal.
BTW, I know I am probably stating the obvious, but for some of the newbs like me, this may save someone the trouble of wasting two days running back and forth between parts houses.
