4:10's in a manual ok for highway use?
Considering buying a 01' Firehawk and the guy put 4:10's in it. It's a 6spd. Will driving this on the highway really suck the gas badly and will the rpm's be crazy high? Or is it still pretty driveable? It's coming with the stock 3:43's also so I guess I could swap em back if need be.

they should last fine if you don't run slicks on it. the biggest problem will be traction! i put Strange (US GEAR) 4.10's in my stock 10-bolt a few years ago. i installed them and set them up. never had a whine and i never broke the gears. i did break a couple carriers. i made around 20 dragstrip passes on them and daily drove them for about a year. i daily drive my car VERY hard too! just to give you an idea of how i daily drive. a normal day for my car consists of at least 3 burnouts, at least 2 1st-4th gear pulls, at least 2 3rd-5th gear highway pulls, and a 23miles drive to work every day. on the weekends i really beat on it!

It will be fine. Don't let that throw you off if you've got a good deal on the Hawk. You'll enjoy it that much more. Stay away from the stickies like these guys said, and you should be alright. Like you said, it comes with the 3.43's, and if they are in good shape, swap it out......but I doubt you will.

4.10s are perfect for a 6 speed. remember 6th makes those 4.10s into 2.05s...gotta love that .50 overdrive lol.
