dana 60s wow
i was tired of replacing my pinion seal on my stock 10 bolt, so i bought a new dana 60s, ha ha. just received it, this is a peice of art, to bad it has to be hidden under the car. i am curiuse if anybody kno's the part number for the wheel bearings and seals? would like to kno for later refrences, thanks. also there is greas fitting's on the bearing end's, how often do you grease and how mutch, does that mean that the wheel bearing is sealed at both sides and no gear oil is lubricating them just the grease?

Here is mine, no grease fittings..... First one is right out of the box, second is the axle end...

since i am not getting any answer back about the grease fitting's, i looked back at a gm high-tech issue of 2008 where they did an installe of a dana in a camaro and found back then that they also had grease fitting's and they mentioned that they gave 5 pumps of a grease gun when they installed it, and to periodictly grease them, i find that it would be good info to have when receiving a dana 60, does anybody have more info on this, i would like to kno because to mutch grease over time and i think the grease is going to come out where the hand brake shoe's are or go and mix with the oil, not good either way.

The s60 bearings(ball type) have an internal and external seal and are not lubricated by the gear oil as they are in the 10bolt(roller type). That is the reason for the grease fittings. I would ask Strange if they put grease in already, if not put 5 pumps and 2 at every oil change as stated above.

I wonder where the extra grease is going to go, for those of you that has had your dana for a few years, have you noticed if grease has come out where your hand brake shoes are? or has just mixed with the diff oil?

My S60 didn't come with grease zerks either. Looks to me like your S60, 35th camaro, is stock length. Big Al, is your S60 narrowed or stock? Mine is narrowed 3" on each side, I wonder if that's why ours didn't come with grease zerks.
I don't know if this would be correct since quite a few S60s have come out without grease zerks. Seems stupid of Strange to build a rear-end with bearings that needs grease and not supply a way to grease them.

mine is stock lenght, the bearings are the stock type for a dana and like the 9 inch type, they are sealed bearings and pressed on the axle and are pre-greased at the factory, and normaly can never be greased again, i like the ideal that they can be greased, just curiose where the extra grease will be going.

eventualy over time(years) the grease will come out like you say either side, grease does not evaporate, i don't like the ideal of it going on my hand-brake shoes or mixing with the oil, i am not going to over grease them and i find it was a goog ideal to put the grease fittings, funny why some have them and some don't.

Dont mean to hijack but this seems to be a followed thread. Are your S60's coming with new ubolts to attach the sway bar, or is that something i have to buy separately? I just realized that is the only thing i do not have to install this thing.
Thanks
