Can anyone tell me what diameter of the stock steel drive shaft on ls1 cars with 2.73 gears are?

So I can assume this 3 inch shaft I received with my new rear end is not a stock shaft then? It has 3r ends but it measures 3.06 inch's diameter.

Will this shaft be ok for 4.30 gears at 115 as fare as critical speed of the driveshaft is concerned?

yes it should be fine, based on a .89 safe factor you should be able to spin that shaft
about 7500rpm

Could this shaft be cut and have 1350 weld yokes added on so that I can run solid u-joints instead of 3r to 1350 conversion joints or is it cheaper to just buy a new shaft?

if we cut both ends off it would shorten the shaft. i would just get a new one
and at that point i would suggest a 3-1/2 aluminum one. they don't have the harmonic vibration problems like the steel one in those cars.

This shaft is a little to long anyways its 41.5 my old shaft was 40.5. How much would it cost to just modify this one. A new 3.5 inch aluminum one is out of my budget right now since I just bought the new rear. The most I would spend is 320 for a new steel shaft from brute speed.

Can you make 3 inch steel driveshafts? can you pm me a price if so.

Are you still running a stock 10 bolt w/ that steel shaft? I'm currently having issues trying to reinstall my steel shaft ofter 10 bolt rear swap. mine is also 41.5" it appears i need to shorten mine too.

A 3" shaft would run about 299.99 using 3x083 tube and 1350 joints

to shorten the shaft you have now would be 60.00

what is the "correct" size shaft on a 99' camaro ss w/ t-56 & 10 bolt rear?
the steel one that came with the car is 41.5" which is too long. i'm thinking it needs to be at least 1" shorter??? can anyone shade some light on this?
i also have since added lower control arm brackets, have them set to lowest setting.
