Default moser 9" axles, not hub centric?

just wondering why the hubs on my moser axles barely stick out of the bore of the rear brake rotors? i just bought some drag wheels that came with hub centric rings, cant use the rings because of this. is there any other options for 31 spline 9" axles?

My 9" is the same way, From what I have read and heard it is fine to run without them. I didnt feel comfortable right away with it but so far its been just fine.

Factory 9" Fords are that way. No idea why Ford did this. All wheels, well all real wheels, center on the flange. Look at any stock GM wheel and the way it fits the hub. Many aftermarket wheels have large center holes and can't center on the hub.

Real world experience. In the late 60's I owned a towing company, small outfit with two trucks. Remember all the old Aluminum wheels like Crager and Appliance? If the lugs nuts got loose they broke the lugs and came off. Great for towing business.....

I am having this same issue! Did you ever get this figured out or find rings that'll work? Thanks!

The hub needs to support the wheel. No other way about it. On my 12 bolt with strange axles, they make a specific fbody hub (extended) that bolts into the axle flange end that supports our wheel. When I briefly had racestars, i used their center adapters because of the larger center bore of the wheel.

Dang, are you saying you ditched your 9"? I was thinking worst case scenario I just get some special hubcentrics made, seems the problem is the inner taper on the hubcentric itself. I was thinking maybe they made one without that inner taper or get one made at a machine shop?

No, that's a 12 bolt (it has ford bearing ends). When I broke the studs I also bugared up the centering register. When I ordered a new one they sent me a regular one. I had to call them back and tell them it was an fbody so they could send me an extended one, as seen in the pics above. The short one had to be removed and replaced.

Yep, racestars. Actually got them working though, got some hubcentric rings with a smaller I.D., then used an engine cylinder hone to bore it out until I could just barely tap them on to the nub on the axle hub lol. Driving o.k. so far!

Yep racestar wheels need the hub adapter to properly center. I've owned a set.
