Do not trust your driveshaft

Always got a kick out of seeing that when a stocker busts open.

A bit of vibration dampening and marginal strength improvement. When a tube fails from torsional stress it will pucker like when you squeeze a can. The cardboard is a cheap solution for a bit of extra support to stop the tube from puckering in. Notice how most of the failures are between the weld and beginning of the cardboard. Its not the end all solution as you can see, but it helps

Buddy of mine snapped one at Centerville too. He was even trying to baby it.
Then a couple weeks later he broke the new one...on the street going into 2nd gear.
My stock type chevelle shaft (shortened for swap) let go on the dyno at 6500rpm in 3rd. Wiped out the exhaust, a brand new built 4l60e, put a hole in the floor, and destroyed the pinion yoke.
Stock driveshafts are stupid. I had a chromoly steel with spicer solid u joints built for $230 high speed balanced and shipped. I had paid ~$140 for the shortened stocker.

Centerville, AR. A 1000' strip, and was surprisingly very sticky. I didn't even make a single 60' all night
Ouch, breaking at the end like that is dangerous. That driveshaft turns into a raging machine breakin **** ... Luckily mine broke at the front and I have no damage under my car, just some dings on the exhaust pipe.
I'm buying a new driveshaft this weekend. I need one for my T56 to 9" with the 9" having a Ford 1330 u-joint (1.125" cap diameter). Preferrebly in a solid u-joint if you can. Can you PM me your best deal on a chromoly and aluminum shafts? Maybe with a military discount by chance? Thanks
