Rear End Questions.
Hey ladies and gents.
pulling another long night working on the car.
really need to set a rule not to work past 1a.m.
1998 A4 my rear end makes a strange sound on deceleration or even when i jack it up and spin the wheels by hand its kinda like a ticking sounds.
maybe like i can hear the gears engaging? i have fluid?
could it be something other than gears?
But since im planning on getting gears anyways im lookin at getting 3.42
but honestly have no idea what size rear end i have. i tried looking on here and i figuered out i have a 3 channel with out the TC and a 2 series carrier since i have 2.43s now(correct).. other than that my brain overloaded and i may have blown a fuse or three with all the other numbers rations rpms so on so forth. so how do i tell what size i have? i believe it has 10 bolts so is it just as simple as counting the bolts?
then as far as pricing. i found a shop that wasnt to charge me 1000$ and they will keep it a full day.
from what ive read thats a lil pricey.
im going to continue shopping around but does anyone know of any shops in Oklahoma or even texas panhandle that may be good on prices? im not scared to drive to get quality if it will save a lil cash. i love drive time time.
any other information is most welcome.
i love learning. and since the shops around here give me the cold shoulder if i ask aquestion i still have alot to learn.
