more bad luck..
i'll start off by saying i have a 10 bolt with 4.10 gears and a m6. i've beat the on the car pretty good waiting for the rear end to go. it took about 3 months of beating on it and tonight something went lol. i was at about 5k in 1st and shifted into second when i heard a POP followed by griding and what seemed to be something flopping around. first thing i thought of was i broke a u joint but as soon as i touched the brakes the noise went away but i pulled off anyways to look. i seen nothing wrong so i decided to limp it home since i was onlt about a mile away. i pulled out and there were not weird noises until i came to a hill and there went the beating/flopping around sound. do you guys thing i just broke a tooth or what? i plan on pulling the cover off tomorrow

i backed down my driveway, which is pretty steep, and it pulled back up it but the griding noise is awful. i backed back down and turned around and backed up the driveway and it was like nothing at all was wrong.. any more ideas?

Agree 100%. That was the same exact scenario when I broke my 10 bolt spider gears. A hard 1-2 powershift and bang. I wasnt able to get just the spider gears for the diff. Had to get a new casing that fit the gears. Broke that too. Hence, the 9". If your gonna keep the 10 bolt, upgrade to something stronger like a detroit locker or even a spool. Only way to really make a 10 bolt last any amount of time. Good luck with the repairs.
