4.56's ?

I have 4.10's now. I run 12.50 at 112 mph. My rpm is 6000 at shutdown. M6 car. Has anyone run 4.56's. Just want some opinions.

I'm running 4.56's in my car right now. I like them on the street, but they are a little much for my tire size. How tall of a tire are you running at the track? http://www.f-body.org/gears/ punch the info in there and check it out.

4.56 is for taller tire. You can run them on stocks but your RPM will be up there. Not good for DD in my opinion.

Lol.. Changing tire size and rear end gear ratio is the exact same thing. Saying that one set of gears is designed to go with a certain size tire doesn't make any sense. You have to have both set where you want them for your setup. He also never said it was a daily driver. Everything in his post is about the track. Have you ever driven 4.56's on the street? You can actually use skip shift without it lugging the engine and it actually makes it really nice to drive that way lol.

I'm going to say 4.56s are too much gear for your application based on the little information that you provided. Need more details of the setup of your car.

For a bolt on 6 speed car, running the stock size tire and rev limit, 4.10s are as steep as you can go. I trapped 113 with bolt ons and 4.10s, and it barely made it across the line without hitting the limiter.

It's not a dd. Hes using 275/50/15 mt et streets. The tires are about 26 tall . Rev limit is either 6800 or 7000. It's not my car but I know the car. Just tryin to clear up some of yalls questions. Will the 4.56 be to much for his setup?

That all depends on what you call too much haha. That tire size is just under 26". That size with a 7k redline will be good for like 118MPH in 4th gear with the 4.56 gear set. If he is trapping higher than 118 he will want to either go down to a numerically lower gear set, or get a slightly taller tire.

You want to cross the line at or above the HP peak and gear the car accordingly. If the OP is going through the traps below peak power rpm then yes a higher gear will help, if he's still got the stock cam then not so much.

The car is cam head and intake. It's going threw the traps at 6k or so. I was thinking it needs some 4.33s but I'm not sure they make those for a 10 bolt.

I am haveing the same issue. I am cam only. Rev limit at 6600 3.73 and I'm rolling threw the traps at 110mph well under 6k. He can turn his a bit higher than mine We'd hate to buy 4.56s to have it run out of gear in 4th.

Thanks for the info guys. I ordered a set of 4.30's today. I think it will work well.
Just to answer the question it's not a DD and even if it was it's only gas. I'm the guy that tells the tuner just tune the car let me worry about driving it.

Let us know how the 4:30's work for you.
