Default Rear end Whine/Wail under 70 mph

Hi,

I have a 2000 Camaro SS A4 and it has an annoying wail/whine type sound from the rear below 70 mph. It is quieter, but noticable (and annoying) below 55 and just plain loud between 55 and 70. When I hit 70 mph and above, it is quiet. Any ideas? Rear end rebuild? Thanks.

Sounds like time to rebuild.if as loud as you say there is plenty of metal. All bearings need inspect/ replace.

In the area of 8 hr. Labor plus all bearings than if real bad you have hard parts but usually not. Roughly 300 parts. Don't let any of those bearings from questionable source get in there. Or any from a country that starts with c .mechanic needs to do a tear down to check parts. I would want all bearings if it is real Loud just because the metal is every ware. That way you won't hear " I didn't touch that part"
