Default 3:42s in A4 from factory?

So, I decided to check to see which code was in the door of my 98 Z28 and it had the code for 3:42's. Problem is, my car is an automatic though... Anyone else had this to happen to them? The code is GU6...

342's only came in 6 speeds. If your car had the option for 323's it will have an aluminum driveshaft also

I was wondering if it was just an error from the factory and they somehow made a mistake. Anyone else had this to happen also? Or heard of it happening?

You either looked at the code wrong or your car used to be a 6spd lol. See if it has MM6.

quite possible that car started as an m6 and someone converted to an automatic.

Or was the door ever replaced / was the car in an accident? Seems strange to me

I double checked several times and I am certain of the code.. I don't believe it has been wrecked before and it was owned by an older lady and she was the only owner before I got it. I am trying to figure out how to upload a photo so I can show you guys. It's weird...

3.42s DID come in a4 cars.....but they were v6 cars with the "performance package". My old bird had the y87 option code, which was the limited-slip 3.42 rear behind the a4 v6. Otherwise, it should have come with 2.73s or 3.23s. I'm guessing it was a manual swapped to auto.
