i used a air hose quick release part in it and ran about 1' of hose from it. its to help your rear breath. to short of a hose and it will leak out so make sure you have about 1'

I wasn't worried about it looking pristine, so I took a piece of hose and ran it through a LOOSE zip tie, ran underneath a gas tank strap. That way when the axle moves, your breather line doesn't pull through the zip tie.

I used a male air hose quick release and about a foot of clear tubing. One other benefit of this hole is that it makes a great place to fill from. You can pull the quick connect fitting and then a quart bottle of gear lube wil fit over the avle if it is at full drop. A lot easier than the side fill hole or the cover fill hole.
