Normally I would agree with this, but as he stated it was same for one or the other, nothing wrong with that.

btw my car is no race car. it's a show car/cruiser. hasn't seen a drag strip since 2004. the one and only time i raced it. i just figured it'd be nice to have a little bit more gear on the highway for accelerating without shifting out of overdrive, and maybe a little more pep in the lower gears. 3.73 might have been overkill for me as i didn't want to dramaticaly effect fuel mileage.

your mpg would not have been drastically affected for freeway driving. I've been tracking mpgs' for mine and others for auto LS1s' when torque convertor is locked at freeway legal speeds.
3.23-24.5mpg,3.42-23.8mpg,3.73-23.0.
how an LT1 would react I would assume would be similar. Computors do a good job of handling mpg.
