Default 01 SS Pinion Seal ?

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. I was trying to find out if I have a 1st design or 2nd design pinion seal. Is there a quick way to determine this or do I just need to have both on hand when I go to replace it? It's for an 01 Camaro SS

Most 01 cars have the 2nd design seal. I have seen an early production 01 (saw the build date) and it had a 1st design but that was the only one I've ever seen. Rebuild kits come with the first design because it covers more vehicles.

Thanks for the info 01ssreda4. I'm thinking of tackling this over the weekend and just wanted to be sure.

4 years later and I'm still giving the same advice. Wow, time flies.
