Default $900 Orlando/Longwood/Sanford area ... 10 bolt gear change?

Does anyone know where I can get a gear change from my current 3.23 gear to a 3.73 gear ... at a reasonable price? It's like a nightmare trying to find someone reputable. Advance Driveline is the only shop I've found that seems to be reputable enough to trust. It's apparently ALL they do ... rearends and transmissions. Also, is there a good LS1EDIT or HP tuner in town?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for taking thew time to read my post. BTW, I have a series 3 carrier ... the car has only 28,000 miles on it, so, will the limited-slip differential need to be replaced just because of the gear change? The dealership just serviced the rearend and said that all the parts are like new with no defects or flaws.

what is the 900 dollars for. please dont spend that kind of money for a gear swap. if it cost that much you should go ahead and buy a 12 bolt. i paid 250 for my gears and 200 to have them put in.

Default Thanks. I was beginning to think I was losing it.

Online, I see a gear set and installion kit that goes with it for $239.00 ... no tax ... plus shipping ... and I have to scratch my head as to why anyone here in town would want to charge SO much just to upgrade my gears. I had the rearend serviced this weekend and it's like new. Advanced driveline quoted $900.00 just to install the ring and pinion gears and the install kit, which I doubt it needs, as well. Hell, dude, GM wants $777.83 just for the gears alone.

I went to a dealership where I bought my car and they wanted $4000.00 to install this same gear setup with an LS6 hotcam, as a package deal! I told the guy let's just cut it clean right now and I shook his hand and I left. The funny part is that he said the tune ALONE would cost $400.00!!!!! I can buy a good copy of LS1Edit for $250.00 ... it's crazy.

I'm not sure where you're located, but, I took the car down to Transgo in Longwood (the town beside where I live[near Orlando]) ... a transmission place that does rearends all the time. They are supposed to give me a quote tomorrow, and they sound like they will give me a pretty good price on it. I'll post and let ya' know what they say.

Anyone near Orlando know where to go for some of these things, locally?

Try Eric at BNO Dyno in Edgewater, (386)427-0390 He is very skilled at it, and charges fair prices. I'd guess around $150-$200 for a gear install w/ fluid. Then add in for gears and any other incedentals. HTH
