Default Christ! Striping studs in my 9 inch housing

Studs that came with my Quick Perfeomance housing stripped when pulling them in. I used the non-locking nut to pull them through with many washers and grease between said washers. Figured they were cheap Chinese studs so I ordered ARP studs/nuts and the same dam thing happened on the first one. Stripping the threads of the stud all the way down, then the knurled portion just starts spinning in the housing before the stud is seated all the way flush.

Any help here? Also tried a big C clamp but busted two of them trying to turn the handle.

Can you use a press to install them?

No, there no way to get a press to work that I can think of, due to the housing being in the way.

What about using a ball joint press. The kind that's shaped like a c clamp.

I think that's my next step.... also seeing pictures online of people using a ball joint separator instead of the press. I'll try both

Interesting. I installed the studs in my Quick Perf housing the same way you did, except I used an impact to pull them. Studs all went in fine, but those washers took a beating!

I finally used a ball joint tool from autozone, worked like a charm, basically a giant c clamp
