Default Buying a used Moser 12 bolt....

What things should I look for as far as quality/usage?

I think Im getting a hell of a deal at $600 but it has 70k miles on it though. Are there certain things I need to expect to see/find? First rearend purchase so I am kinda lost on whats important or not......

Thanks a lot!

$600 for a bolt in 12 bolt? That's the best deal ive ever heard of. They typically go for 15-1800.

Yep! Friend bought a car to flip and he knows to finish up my build I need a rear. The car is a 97 Camaro Z28 converted to a SS. Full suspension car, fully adjustable everything with Baer brakes all around. Car motor is bone stock just a hyperchip tuner and SLP CAI. And lately the cheapest I've seen a used 12 bolt go for is $2k......

At that price there isnt much to look at, just buy it and deal with anything that might be wrong once you get it.

Lol. Thats kinda what I thought.

I currently have a TH400 to 10 bolt driveshaft. Is there a length difference in the driveshaft from switching to 12 bolt from a 10 bolt? My current driveshaft approx. 399 miles on it. Hate spending money twice !

Should work fine. But what joint does it have? The 12 bolt should have a 1350.

As 01ssreda4 mentioned, 10 bolt to 12 bolt driveshaft lengths are typically the same. If the Moser rear has a 1350 yoke, you may need a 447 conversion u joint. Bob

I am pretty sure it has a 1350 u joints. Mr Bob, do you think that 1/4 of an inch is a big deal to worry about? Will it throw the driveshaft angle off by much?

i don't see a problem with .25. You can always compensate by adjusting the rear if you have adjustable lower control arms. Bob
