Gear ratios and top speeds
I was just curious what the top speeds are for the most popular gear ratios such as 3.42's, 3.73's, and 4.10's. Just curious. thanks

Depends on what your rev limit and tire size is. Also keep in mind you will be in 5th gear, not 6th, assuming an M6. With 275/40-17's, 4.11 gears, and a rev limit of 6750 rpm, I have a theoretical top speed of 173 mph with my SS. I have an official track speed of 161 mph, but had some throttle left at that speed. You may be able to go that fast with 3.42's, just at a lower rpm, and probably need to be at close to sea level if running a stock LS1. When I went 161, I was on salt and at 4500 feet, both of which slow you down 15 to 20 mph.

I have 4.10's, a 6200rpm redline, 18"rims. I do exactly 154@6200rpm in 5th thats 4100RPM in my 6th, 6th will accellerate a few hundered RPM I was able to get to(with headlamps up and TTops off, windows up) 4450RPM. I think it is at the 170-175 mark, I looked it up on Randys Ring and pinoin page. 6Th isnt that bad. I have accelerated in 6th from 80mph(2200rpm) to 4200RPM let off due to room to run.But no slouch, as fast as a modded Lighting from 120 up while in 6th, and my lightning dies out @ 149mph.
