Which side of the exciter ring faces the rim?

Well, on a stock 7.5/10 bolt axle, the flat side faces out toward the wheel and the recessed side faces in toward the carrier.

Reason i ask is moser and ls1speed didnt know, they said they pull them off the stock axle and right onto the moser... ANd its been a few months since i pulled them.
