3.73s or 3.42s?
Well I can't take the whining of the 4.11s in my Moser 12 bolt anymore. At highway cruising speeds they are louder than my 4" exhaust.
I'm torn though, do I go with 3.73s or 3.42s? Anyone running 3.73s in their 12 bolt? Are they quiet?
Car has a t56, plan is to go with a procharger down the road.I'm starting to not care about the dragstrip so much anymore, just want something fun to drive without all these noise annoyances.

You were told incorrectly, I have a set of Timken 3.73:1 gears installed in Sara (2001 Z28) that were "Cryod" for additional strength, and they are extremely quiet. I had them installed by a professional rear end shop, 15 years ago.

3.73's or 3.90's for sure if eventually procharging and M6 trans. Can always run a taller tire to bring it closer to 3.73 if went with 3.90's.
I went with 3.89 (Fab 9in.) and plan to procharge in the future also.
Your gears shouldn't whine, there either set up incorrectly or going out, 12 bolts aren't the best choice for M6 cars but they can be built strong and run but I wouldn't run one. Reason I bought a Fab 9 from MWC was to be done with any rear end problems for a long long time.
How much rwhp do you plan or want to make when you do eventually pro charge?
Reason I ask is the number always seems to go up, hell I was going to rebuild half the ls1 (like a lot of guys/gals do) and make say 450rwhp, then I realized a forged 408 is a couple grand more and way more practical and I have a whole new motor (for my future needs), then I'm set up for spray or boost or both with the right cam and compression of course. Looking now to build a forged 408 and spray 150-250 shot should be around 800-900rwhp on the bottle.
Hope this helps, either way you're eventually going to be spending a good amount of money, gotta pay to play as they say.
