I'm nearing completion of my 8.8 build and completely forgot about the vent tube. I know most are in the axle tube but could I put it somewhere else? Where the tubes are stepped down it would be well over 1/2" thick, I could drill it no problem but just wanted to see where most others out there vent tube at. I still have the hole where the 3 channel abs sensor went in the 8.8 housing.

outside of the 'splash' area which is between the carrier bearings. Pic shows the OEM vent tube location port/hole. The OEM plastic vent fitting that is pressed in there I remove,and since the hole is 7/16",I tap it for 1/4 NPT and run the hose onto and along the panhard bar.

I put mine on top of the driver's side axle tube.

Thanks guys. I ordered a new vent from Ford meant for the 8.8 axles and I'll just drill the tube and put it there.
