I assume you're talking ten bolt and f body since the 12 bolt only came in trucks which don't use T56
Anything close to a sticky tire and aggressive launch is risking it.
I broke mine on a dead hook with continental extreme contacts - not exactly a street slick. FWIW

I'll chime in - or ask a question - since I think everyone goes through this when they buy one these cars for the first time. It's always a risk. I was told...and feel free to correct me if you KNOW otherwise....that factory 4.10s are more forgiving than aftermarket units. Something about the different type of metal used, that they are not as brittle. 4.10's came in plenty of S10 pickups with the same rear. I have a new set in a GM box in my garage.

It doesn't matter much that the gears are strong or weak. The damage comes when the torque arm causes the 10 blt housing to distort. No gear is gonna stay meshed when it is not engaging the sister gear properly. A lot of times the aluminum driveshaft stays in tact and doesn't do much damage but sometimes it can wreck **** pretty bad.

Didn't the cyclone and typhoon run 8.5" ring gear 10-bolt and not the 7.625" variety?
Similar question for lots of 60's and 70's muscle?
Valid point though for turd gens
