Default Load bolt TQ on girdle??

Some manufacturers specify between 5-10 foot pounds for the differential girdle bolts. Anyone know how much and why?

Ive always been told just snug them, that you dont want to add preload to the caps, so thats what Ive always done.

Yup, just get em snug. You aren't trying to move anything around, just want to make sure that the caps can't move. That's why they are there, to hold them in place. Don't need a S ton of force to do it.

too much torque on them can put the bearing caps out of round

I torqued them to 65 inch pounds. Like 5.5 foot pounds. The Trick Flow spec was 10 but all the other manufacturers TA Moser, Ford performance were all 5' pounds or between 5-10. Not having any problems I decided to go with the lower value.
