Default Does anyone have the tin shields that attach to the backing plates lying around?

Not wanting to tear my car down when waiting for the rear end to be built, I bought a set of backing plates to send in so the new rear end could be assembled. I didn't realize that the tin shields that attach to the backing plates were also needed and I'm trying to find a pair so that I won't have to tear down my car and pull them off of my current rear end.

Does anyone have a set they're not currently using? I'll buy or swap them. If you will need them in the future, I'll ship you mine once I get the rear end out of the car.

They'll need to be for a 4-channel.

Thanks

PS: I know this probably goes in the Classified section, but figured it'd get more visibility here and I'm on a time budget. Sorry and thanks.

Backing plates and dust shields are considered 'a set'. Without the dust shields, the remaining backing plates are useless. I doubt that anyone would be willing to sell dust shields only. Your best bet would be to acquire a 'set' just to acquire the dust shields. Another option would be to acquire a complete junkyard rear end just for those parts. 98-02 are the same,97 and earlier are different.

Thanks... and yea, I am fine getting the set. Also, thanks for the info about the 98-02 being different from a 97.

Are the backing plates from a V6 car the same as a V8 car?

Are the brackets for a V6 the same as a V8 and will the tin shields work?

98-02 V6-V8 are the same. Those in pics are 3channel ABS only NOT 4 channel ABS + TC.

Would the dust shield be the same whether it's a 3 channel or a 4 channel? I have the 4 channel backing plates. I just need the dust shield.

The 4 channel backing plates you have contain a hole for the 4 channel sensor, that hole also has to be in the dust shield for the sensor to be able to reach & sense the toothed reluctor rings.

Well damnit. I was hoping the dust shield didn't matter.

I wonder if the 3-channel shield can be modified to work w/ a 4-channel backing plate. Should be as easy as drilling a hole, no?

These are apparently what the 4-channel shields should look like:

The hole on top being the only difference... I'm thinking a little cutting could make this happen. :hmm:

Can always just have your local machine shop press the wedding rings on the axles once they arrive and you tear your rear end down.

The 3ch shields have the hole for the 4ch sensor, there was no difference between them. Only the caliper mount plate is different, and it is just the sensor hole itself.
