Default GM 10 Bolt 8.5 rebuild

Hello all.
I am in the process of trying to rebuild my 10 Bolt, Richmond 3.42 gears Eaton Trutrac. I am at 35 on pinion shim here is my pattern. Any help would be great.

You're close, looks a smidge too deep. I'd take a little off the pinion shim. What's backlash?

Backlash is about .008. I'm waiting for the Yukon shim kit I ordered. Hoping there are thinner shims than the Richmond kit. Not a lot of choices with that. Should be here today.

I would drop to about 32 shim and the pattern should center up nicely.

Agreed you're close but a tad deep. You can't come up with the correct shims using multiple, thinner shins? Dunno what richmond supplies.

There was no in between with the Richmond kit. Went from .035,.030,.29,.021. I received the Yukon kit much better choices. I went to a .30 and now I'm at .027 ( stacked a .017/.010) I'll post pics of both.

In your pics in post#1,the yellow marking compound is too thick/liberal. Use just enough to cover the surface without flooding it. As the gears are wiping/meshing that excess is carried/smeared to cover the true pattern. Also, the unmarked teeth that now have some marking compound carried to them also show the true pattern. I look at those teeth as meaning more than the teeth I applied compound to. Your pic #2 shows some of that.
