Default rear gear turbo and tko600

I have read many times that a turbo car needs a taller gear. most seem to like the 3.27 range. My question is, if running this tall of a gear, how are you not lugging the engine on the highway in 5th gear? Say is a 3.89 rear gear really that bad for the car if it won't be raced at all?

Turbo cars don't need a lot of cam, so lugging is not normally a problem.

Depends on 5th Gear ratio, but there's no way a 3.27 gear is going to lug in 5th at reasonable highway speed.

FWIW I just stuck a 9" in my 6 speed car with 3.25 gear. 5th gear doesn't lug 45ish + going up hill. If I'm at 40 or so (1200 rpm) it will lug a bit but comes out pretty good.

6th gear is pretty much 60+ and only lugs in spots where it did with stock gearing.
