MWC/Strange S-trac uneven drag when rotating?

Got my axles/backing plates installed tonight and went to spin the yoke around just to make sure everything was good and noticed that after the axles went in and the backing plates got tightened down the diff seemed to "tighten up" if that makes sense. Definetly felt like more drag, but also, uneven drag, like it would spin x amount of drag, but then tighten up a little more, then loosen...

It's not significant, but it's there.

So I guess what I'm asking is, is it normal for drag to increase once the axles are installed and backing plates bolted down? Secondly, what would be causing the uneven drag as the differential is rotating? I don't notice any goofy noises or anything.

** also, one more thing that I noticed when assembling, when the axle was pushed in, the seal/bearing seemed to stick out of the end of the housing ever so slightly. I tapped it with a rubber mallet a few times, but it felt (and sounded) bottomed out. Thus, the backing plates didn't sit down flat, they sat out about 1/16" of an inch from the mounting flange on the housing, the bolts pulled the backing plates in flush. This is when the differential tightened up...

Drivers side seal/bearing, I was able to push in by hand, passengers side wouldn't. It was a tighter fit, it needed to be tapped in with a rubber mallet.

Almost sounded like a issue I had with my same setup. Mine ended up being a axle (passenger side) being a 1/4" too long.
