What is a "mini-spool"?

i called summit to see if they made one for my 02WS6 to minimize downtime until i get a 12-bolt. they said no one makes them...
is this true? does anyone know of someone who does make them?
i just want to be able to drive/race the car untill i find a good deal on a 12-bolt

A mini-spool wont really help prolong the life of the stock 10 bolt. There are too many other weak links. I'm not even sure if anyone does make a mini for a 7 5/8" 10bolt. You'll need to run c-clip eliminators anyway.

Some circle track guys run them for class limitations where a standard spool is not permitted.
Stronger than a posi I guess, but for a street application you may want to look at a Detroit locker, or the new posi-locker from Auburn (I think they call it the ECTED or something, basically an electronic locker that is a 2.5:1 bias posi when unlocked).
To my knowledge no one makes a 7.5" mini-spool... I've seen a few people search for one over the past 5 years or so. For that matter, I belive a full-sized spool is fairly rare as well (although I swear I read about a company in the south that made them for cheap). Sticky tires + full spool + high torque = broken splines. They're not popular for a reason.
