Default How much gear oil goes in Moser 12 bolt

I'm just curious as mine is on a lift right now & the 12 Bolt has two fill holes. One on the front of the pumkin & one in the cover that Moser put on the rear end which is quite a bit higher than the 12 bolt fill hole. I don't want to blow the seals in the hubs by over filling the rear end. Right now it has 4 1/2 quarts in it & it still isn't overflowing from the Moser fill hole on the back of the pumkin.

Also the reason the car is on the lift is due to getting another tranny installed & do you fill that with Dextron 3 automatic tranny fluid? The car is a 1999 Camaro Z28-6 speed.

I'd appreciate any helpful info-Fred

fill it to the level of the plug in the rearend housing. the one in the cover is like you said to high. i had a friend fill it to there and it just made a real mess cause it just came right out of the breather tube.

Thanks for the advice. I just don't understand why Moser put the other fill hole where they did-Fred

Well if you have 4 1/2 quarts in right now I'd stop...My Moser 12 called for 2 1/2 quarts on the install instructions, and after a few high speed run its probably low already because the over-flow tube (mine is about a foot long) has already spewwed some out.

You remove the upper plug on the rear cover and remove the huge 9/16 allen plug on the side of the diff. Fill the diff from the upper rear plug til the fluid runs out the SIDE plug hole. Then reinstall the plugs. Usually 2.5-3 qts.

Yes Dexron III auto-trans fluid for M6.
