Default Is 2" a side too much to narrow?

I will be buying a 9"/12bolt very soon.Im looking to have it shorten 2" each side to put a offset of 5.5" BS on a 15x10 rim. Is this going to cause me any problems on my 01' WS6? NO returns on rearend when purchased shorten'd

My 9" is narrowed 3" per side, with a 15x10 with a 5"BS it tucks the wheel in .5" more than stock. 2" per side with a 5.5 BS will make the rims stick out about an 1" or so more than stock

BTL FED,
When narrowed 3" per side i wont have to do any other modifications for the rims and tires to clear with 5" BS for a 15x10 rim and a 12" wide tire?? The reason i'm asking is because i currently have 17x11 TT'2 (7-3/4 BS) w/ 315-35-17 (12.5")tires and they dont rub and they tuck up to clear the fender lip.

Where you able to retain your E brake going 3" narrower per side?
