Default Putting a '98 rear end in my '02..problems?

I am thinking of buying a complete rear end that came out of a '98 Z and swapping it into my car. It is a 3 channel w/4.10s. I have a few Q's:

1. I do not have TCS, so my car also has a 3 channel correct..so I am OK there?

2. Did the '98s have a different limited slip unit like an Auburn vs. my Torsen? And does it really matter if I switch from one to the other?

Anything else to look out for?

Thanks..

Channel 3 is non-traction control, correct. '98 was Auburn carrier, correct. Should not make a difference otherwise and bolt right up. The '98 Auburn's were traditionally weak----I believe the later Torsen's held up better, but w/4.10's if your pounding on it, it won't live forever...M6? If so, you will love the 4.10's....WJ

Yep I have an M6. I haven't broken my 10 bolt yet, and I really don't want to shell out $500-$600 for a 4.10 install, so I figure why not try this and see how long the rear will last. If she blows, I will throw my original rear back in!

Thanks for the replies.

Good luck. Hopefully the 4.10 piece will have been properly set up and be quiet for you. I got 65+ passes and 7500 miles out of my '99 car w/4.10's before they got real noisy. Never broke that 10 bolt either..... WJ

This is exactly what I did, no problems with the install. I will caution you on staying with the 10 bolt though. I have had nothing but problems from mine, finding someone who knows how to set them up is a nightmare, and swapping rears in and out gets old. Good luck
