Default Rear gears and wheel stud install ?

Hey yall. I just stripped one of my rear studs. I have a set of arp studs at home. Ive been told that removing the axles are necessary for installing longer arp studs. My questions is do they have to take apart the gearing? Should i buy a set of rear gears to install at the same time? Will this way make the install cheaper because they have to remove the axles anyway? I feel so bad that i striped my one of my studs Any information concerning my matter would be greatlyfuly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Yes, the axles have to be removed to install new studs, and Yes now is a good time to do a gear change, if your wallet says you can..... At least you won't have to remove the axles a second time if you waited until a later date to do the ring and pinion swap.... Best wishes. WJ

Removing the axle is something you could easily do yourself, the gear is best left to someone experienced. You have to remove the rotors, pull the rear cover. There will be a small lock bolt that holds in the center pin in the case. Once you get the center pin out, you push the axle in and remove the c-clip with a magnet. Then just slide the axle out. The stock studs can usually be taken out with the axle in, but the longer ones can pose a problem going in.

You hit the nail on the head there. Its pretty simple to do and man does that fluid stink.

By the way, in response to your first question, you do not have to remove the gear.
