4:10's a bad idea with spray? I plan to spray 125-150 shot on the street and I have an M6. Is 4:10's gonna be too much gear because I dont want to be shifting into 5th before the 1320. Do you think 3:73's will be a good median? |
Depends... if you have a cam that pushes your shift point up to around 6500 rpms, then no it isn't a bad idea. If you're still on stock shift points & rev limiter, I'd stick with 3.73s if you're spraying. |
but how high can u spray with stock bottom end in the rpm range? |

My 4.11 are great on the street on my stock motor, BFG drag radials and T56, but I have serious traction problems with the 150 wet shot. I wish I had 3.89 r/p. |
Can anyone link me to the speed-gear ratio chart? I too will go juice (100-125 wet shot) next winter, maybe with 4.10s. My H/C combo allows me to 6800 rev limit. Enough gear for 1320 with stock tire size? |
wow, 6800 rpm on hydraulic lifters! Now that's what I call pushin it. I think you'll hit 5th gear in the lights. |

I'm shifting my little all stock motor at 6000 when on the spray, because I want it to last. Hell, I'm shifting my solid roller n/a 622 at only 7700 rpm! Remember, it's only got a limited number of revs in it. |

But the chart doesn't work unless there is a "pre-set" in the drop down list. And they only have a 3.42 rear for the LS1 M6... Either that or I'm a retard. (Likely) |
I have a 95z six speed with 4:10 and a hoosier 27" tire, i sprayed a 150 shot the whole way and didn't hit 5th gear, shifting at 6200 |
1ScrudeDude - You can select the pre-set M6 from the drop-down list, but then alter any of the values in the text fields (such as changing the 3.42 to 4.10) before clicking the calculate button. :) |
So the taller the tire...the more mph you can get out of each gear?? Not to up on all this stuff....but need to know. |

Therefore, I am going to leave the 4.10s in and go with a slick and/or taller tire. The 4.10 ratio is just too good a gear for this set up, plus, I want to maintain some digs when I run on motor. TNT wet kit, here I come :D |
i'm spraying 4.11's. head and camed car with a t.n.t 100 shot i cross the traps at 6,400rpm's in 4th gear,my rev is at 6,800rpm's and i'm on 26in slicks. for the street i don't hit it till 2nd gear. |
