Default Those with Richmond gears...

How much noise do your Richmond gears make? I just got my 4.10's in, and they have a slight whine. Not bad, but I just want to make sure this is normal. My buddy has the same whine with his, and everything I've read says the Richmond's do make some noise, but they are the strongest gear. So how do yours sound?

I had a slight harmonic whine at 55-65, very faint. I love Richmond gears.

I have a Strange 12 bolt now, and whatever gears are in there (anyone know?) it is louder than the Richmonds. I miss my Richmonds.

Yup, that's about where mine is the worst. I went with the Richmonds simply because everyone said they are the strongest. I don't mind some noise because I'll do anything to keep this 10 bolt from dying on me since I don't have the cash for a 12 bolt.

My 4.10 Richmonds were in my stocker for 3.5 years. Quiet from day one until the day I sold the rear.

When I got Motive 4.10s before the Richies, he took 6 hours to try to get them perfect and quiet. He didn't, and the gears were returned. He tried to reset them 4 times that same day, no luck.

Still he charged me a whole $150 bucks.

I have the "thick gear" 3.73 for series 2 carrier. Slight wine but nothing the cutout or stereo can't drown out.

My installer is horrified by the sound actually. He cut me a *really* good deal because of it. He let it up to me wheither I wanted to have him reset them, but I just let it go.

One thing I was thinking though is that there are two different sets of Richmond's. There is the good USA-made set, and then another cheap set. I don't know if some people that have quiet Richmond's might actually have the cheaper set. Just some food for thought.

It's possible. But for 3.5 years, I made out pretty darn good for the *cheapies.*

Thanks for the replies guys. I envy the quiet gear guys (1ScrudeDude), but the whine isn't that bad. Nothing duals won't take care of
