Default k, im quite tired of wondering, will 3.73's over 3.23's hurt or help ur n2o times?

ive ask many different ppl and searched many threads .. some ppl say the 3.73's and 150 shot will improve me et's, some ppl say keep the 3.23 and the 150 shot, the 3.73 will hurt me .1-.2 tenths. so which is it... i know the 3.73 will help my n/a times, but is it going to slow me down on spray?

I've been told by more than 1 person I would pick up .5 on the nitrous going to the 3.73s or 4.10s.

I would expect maybe a touch more mph but I could see the et going one way or another. I think the only et gains or losses are probrably going to come from your 60'. I don't know if a 26" drag radial could handle coming out of the hole on a 150 shot with 3.73s unless it's an M/T or something. Also, if your trapping mid 120s you'd probrably be hitting 4th gear just before the traps with the stock shift points and that could be a killer if you don't spray through the shifts. Now if you switched to a 28" tire you might see a good amount of gain on the nitrous from that much gear. I might be wrong but that's my take on it.

hmm good point about shifting into the bottom of 4th.. however if u had a cam/3500converter/3.73's and 150 shot u may be in the top of 4th gear which would work out fine would it not.. i believe u would hit the rev limiter shortly after u crossed the line, which means u would be close to maximizing ur setup if im correct. this is kinda my eventual plan so it cant be a bad thing.. at any rate, it will help my motor times, if i have to i have like 2 extra sets of 16 inch rims and they make a 27 inch tire for a 16 inch rim now i might could run when i was spraying. with the nittos though and a lot of spinning and 122.8 mph i was maybe mid way thru 3rd gear on the 150 shot at most.

If those are your plans I think that would work great overal. Asuming that you'd shift the car at 6,600 I figured the top of third would probrably be about 140mph (can't figure for converter slip but that number should be close). I imagine with a good size cam that likes nitrous and a half decent race wieght the car should trap close to the 130mph mark, so that would put you pretty close to the top of 3rd. Not sure how long the 10 bolt would last though.

10 bolt will prolly last fine.. its had a world of abuse thrown at it.. my trans has f'd up twice, the second time breaking everything in it. the front seal on the rear leaks a lil, but thats about it, as long as i keep fluid in it, it doesn't even really whine. with a t/a cover and a new gear/install kit ect. i think it will last a few passes.
