Will 96 rear fit 99?

Will 96 rear fit 99? I have done a few searches and can't find anything that helped me. I was wondering if anyone of you all have installed a 96 rear end on a 99 of the same type (T/A in my case). A friend of mine blew his rear on his 99 T/A and I know of someone that is selling an old one off a 96 T/A for $300. Would the 96 rear fit the 99 T/A? Thanks in advance.
