Parking brake doesn't work HELP!!

Well crap, my parking brake doesn't seem to be working. When I pull it back, it feels like I am just turning the handle. I feel absolutely no resistance in the handle at all. The "!BRAKE" light comes on like normal. I checked my brake fluid and it is ok. Also, my brakes work fine when I'm driving around. Anyone have any suggestions?

your parking brake has really nothing to do with the regular braking on the car, its cable driven, not hydraulic.. sounds like the cable has snapped somewhere.. either under the console or under the car above the driveshaft. just gonna have to get in there and start removing stuff.
