4:10's are IN!!!!

Had a bad nasty whine with the stock 3.42's and decided to replace them with 4.10's, all new bearings, seals, etc as well as a new TA girdle and stud kit for the bearing caps. Install took about 5 hours with jacks and jackstands and a nice shop with A/C in it to do the work in :)

I'm still breaking them in right now, but so far I have already noticed a pretty substantial difference in how the car picks up and gets up and goes. We'll see what happens after 500 miles :)

I also wanted to say for those that have considered doing it themselves, it's not THAT hard. As with anything, patience, reading the instructions, and basic hand tools will take care of it. Can't wait till the breakin is over!

4.10's in a 10 bolt!?!?!? How much of an improvement in acceleration, and what rpm @ 70mph are u @?

Nice! I have Richmond 4.10's and they have a whine to them, but its ok. I picked up about 4 tenths from 3.42's to 4.10's stock, and I added a lid, another tenth there. Thats it as far as mods go.

yea, they are nice, car has some more pickup with them, just be careful, had mine for 20 miles and they broke after easy driving...good luck

what brand did you have?

strange

I've got the Strange 4:10's just like HOSS and I've put almost 400 miles on them already to attempt to break them in as quick as possible. There is a slight hum at 65mph and above, but that's all.

I had my speedo calibrated for them and at 70mph, I'm right at 2k rpm. My friends car with the stock gears is at 1700 at the same speed, so only about a 300 rpm increase. I haven't broken them in completely yet, so I haven't gotten into it, but I can already tell a significant acceleration improvement. I drive it everyday in traffic and it's still just as easy to drive as the stock gears were.

I love my 4.10's, I would'nt have it any other way.

I wouldnt mind having more gear so take off would be easier (spec stage 4) but in houston a lot of the races are on the freeway and thats where the 3.42's come in handy.
