Default best company to buy gears from ?

Its plain and simple. My car is cam only and just about full weight .I have a built M6 with all the bells and whistles. I launch at 6k on the bottle(150 shot). The rear is a moser 12 bolt with 4.10's . Which company makes gears that might stand a chance against what im doing to them? I keep breaking off 5-8 teeth on the ring every 8-10 launches. I know this might be a setup problem with the rear but this time im gonna get the best gears first then get someone else to setup/install them.

If you are breaking off ring gear teeth then you are over powering it. Now if you were taking pinion teeth off then I would say it's a set up problem. 9" it, and forget about it.

Ya I hear ya. 9 inch is on my wish list but not affordable right now. I just got back my tranny two days ago. And after installing my tranny I found out that I also broke the rear. I ain't trying to be cheep but I have to get it together for import versus domestic shootout in early november, thats why I want another set of gears . Or at least something stronger than richmond gear.

Richmond Gears are up there in the list of gear strengths. If you are breaking those then you need to upgrade rear ends.

I know that I need a upgrade. So I called around and found out that the guys from moser think that I'll be wasting my money to go to a 9 inch. They seem to think that the 12 I have no weaker than a 9 inch. He said that I should go to a PRO gear not a new rear. The problem with that it the PRO gears wear out real fast driving on the street is what the dude told me. I always thought the 9 inch was bullet proof and from what he is telling me that since Im breaking the ring gear teeth that the 9 inch is no differant, only that the pinion is lower on the ring gear and that I probably break that gear also because they are just about the same size. Who knows ??? I'm up for suggestions.

Well, how are you launching it at the strip?
Maybe we should look into WHY you're breaking gears instead of just swapping in several dozen new sets. I'm not saying it's your fault, but maybe something isn't jiving with the car's power and what youre coming off the line at.

Granted, you still needs a new set of gears, I know this, but if you are breaking Richmonds then I'd be willing to try ANYTHING else. It can't be any worse than annialating one more set or Richies. I'd be all for a set of Pro-Street gears just to see how they hold up.

I'm launching 6k on the bottle (150 shot). If you need to see it first hand, just go to the video forums and go under search and type
"last time at track before tranny went" and you'll see just how I launch.

I've heard of guys putting down 2,000+ hp with 9", that's baffling that Moser would say that.

Yeah, I can't figure why the Moser folks would say that either. I will say that they usually know what they're talking about over there (Moser Engineering is about 45 minutes away from my house), so there must be an obvious reason for them to basically tell you not to buy from them. It's a known fact amongst the racing community that the 9" is about the best design there is...

Go the 9" route, you'll be glad you did.

Get with Jason, or Brian over at Eastern F Body, they will get your car right. Sounds like angles off on that rear set up. Buy quality **** once instead of mediocre parts twice; or more. $.02
