Thats a good one. Ive never heard of that one yet........

The diagnosed problem should have been that your pinion bearings are shot from a lack or too much bearing preload. A crush sleeve doesnt just fail........ and take bearings with it.

BTW..... what is a "rack gear" ??

And the quote sounds to be about $100.00 to much for what they are doing.

225 R&P
125 Bearings + install kit which includes seals, nut and crush.
35 For super shims
35 Cleaner, sealer and Locktite
275 Labor

I think you guys are getting screwed. I just paid $350 for ring and pinion gears, bearings and labor for an 9" center section. I did have the pumpkin out of the car though. Still way too high.

A gear, Eaton posi, bearing kit, and labor I only charge $750.00 here in MI. I should move to FL, I could be rich in 6 months!

Hey HFLDTA, if you are in central Florida, go to Advance Driveline in Orlando. They just fixed my 9" after Strange fkd it up twice. I wouldn't trust Strange to put a tinker toy set together properly. Absolute morons and their customer service is even worse. It seems everyone bitches about Moser but I think Strange is worse. I am convinced that when you buy a rear you're better off having it put together locally.
