I got a 99 z-28 and had the same exact real loud wine on deceleration. The car had stock 342s and since I was going to tear the rear end up, I went with 373s and the new install kit from jegs. Turns out that the rear pinion bearings were shot. I just installed new everything in the rear end and still the same damn loud whine. Tomorrow I am going to replace the axle bearings and I'll update again.

SILENCE AT LAST!!!
Well turns out, I used the crush sleeve that came with my jegs install kit that was an 8th of an inch longer than the stock one. Because of the eighth inch diffrence, the pinion was not seated in there correctly. I re used the stock one again and now have a perfectly quiet rear end! First time ever!
