Ha, that sucks. I know how it feels to get those tires nice and hot, see the green light turn on, let out the clutch and BAM, something gives. Not a good feeling, but it could be worse. Seems like you're making some power and getting some good traction.

The brake calipers keep the axle from coming out on a rear disc brake setup like ours.

My carnage was from a 5K dump on E/T drag radials. The 4.10 gear survived with out so much as a scratch but I sheared the axle like you and also cracked the dif.

YIKKKKKEEEESSSSSS!!! My car is putting down 6xx HP.I have a t56 and stock rear. Gulp! Looks like I'll have to keep radials on until I can afford to **** something up. Would nitto's be to much? What rpm would you launch@

Keep radials on, you're just asking to break it if you hook up at all with that much HP

That looks all to familliar...

When built right, the gearset is hardly ever a problem. It's always the junk diff or junk axles that take a dump. To the guy who started this thread, lol, you dont need h/c and 200 shot to do that, all you need is some drag radials and boltons N/A Oh and take a good look at your differential and make sure it isnt cracked like in the pic 2QuickZ's posted, they usually do crack near where the axle breaks.
