Thoughts on Nitto 555R 2's

I'm going to need new rear tires soon. I'm leaning towards these because the price isn't bad, I could still take some hard corners in them and the traction should be much better than my stock F1's. Should I get the 555r drag radial instead? I don't do any autocrossing or roadracing, I will only be visiting the drag strip. However, I do take some highway ramps with hard curves at high speeds and heard that the drag radial can actually come of the wheel <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">
Anyone have any experience with these compared to the drag radial. All thoughts welcome.

If you keep the DR's @ about 30psi they will outhandle the F1's by far!! but they will wear the middle much quicker. In the rain i would def say the F1's are slightly better but not by much. they will NOT come off the rim unless you are running them at super low psi. I think it is the perfect tire. As for the 555R II(the road race version) it should still be great on traction but it will hurt your 60ft's due to the stiffer sidewall(intended for road racing)

So if you don't care too much about improving on your 60ft over the F1 than the 555R II's should be perfect. If you want a little more edge at the track stick with the 555R's.

Personally i use my DR's as if they were road tires. I take corners HARD cause i know they will grip. I would by the 555R II's but i want the better sidewall for the track! My $.02

I use them for track tires.

The consensus is they are drag radials with stiffer sidewalls.

They take quite a bit of heat to perform well, though.
