I think they quoted me that much just because they didnt want to mess with it. They told me to try a dealship because they would be cheaper.. How much would the dealership charge (ball park figure) I'm at work and cant call till tomorrow

You'd be better off buying your own tuner/programmer, like Diablosport Predator, or any one of them. They're all around $500, you can recal your speedo yourself, and keep it for upgrading the tune, changing a/f, etc.

It takes no longer than 5 min. i cant see spending more than 30 bucks ot have it done. The shop that did the dyno tuning on my car and my buddys car did it for free when he got gears installed. Id tell them to go fist themselves

Thats horrible.
There are 2 ways that I know of doing this.
- Find someone in your area that has the Hypercrap III, and just use its gear ratio feature... nothing else.
- Do a basic mail order tune ( around $150 )

You can do it yourself with a handlheld tuner for about $300 on eBay.
I bought my Hypertech unit pre-owned for $138, on eBay. It was an awesome deal. Fixed my speedo, lowered cooling fan temps, uploaded the power tune, and adjusted for my wheel size. Definitely worth the money.

Screw all these ideas of wasting money on a hand held tuner. If your gonna shell out that much just get HPtuners & you will be way better off.
I would go to a local dyno shop or find a local tuner. You should be able to get it done very cheap. My local tuner only charged me $75 to do all my edits for my mods, set me up to pull timing when my nitrous kit goes on & never charges me again for any other edits. Just a full dyno tune which I get $75 off since I already paid for my edits.

I don't know waht model your car is but anyway I have a hpp3 I would let you have for 75 dollars but it's for 99 model. As far as changing your speedo.tranny shift points stuff simple it works fine.
