Default whats the better rearend to use???

i have an 87 z28 that im putting an lt1 and t56 in. i plan to get close to 500rwhp out of this combo. my question is i bought the whole rearend when i bought the lt1. they came out of a 95 firebird formula. is it worth it to also swith the rearend thats in the car stock for the 1 out of the firebird? i do plan to get better gears regardless. i also plan to switch to rear disc brakes too, and want to get better than stock brakes. i am goin to be puttin some z06 18x9.5 rims on the car. which rearend would u recommend using and what upgrades other than the gears should i perform? thanks for any info!!!

4th gen rearends are wider than 3rd gen. You'd probably have problems with the wheels/tires sticking out way too far and smacking your fenders. I'd just stick with the stock 87 rear until I could buy a 9 inch or something.

The stock rear in either suck, both are 10 bolts. If your gonna run zo6 wheels you would be better off with the 4th gen rear.
