9inch On It's Way

well my 10 bolt timebomb blew once last fall and i didn't have the money at the time for a 9inch, so i just bought the 3.73 gears and install kit and took it to Scott@Driveline-Solutions for the install...well about a week and some change ago, the rear end started acting up again....now that i have the money in hand...im not even gonna mess with it again. took the 10 bolt to scott to have him look it over and just get it in shape to sell it, and put down a deposit on a beautiful new 9inch that he's gonna build up for me! Also a new Driveshaft to go along with it. I want my car to be bullet proof. i can't wait...i'll post some pics in a week or 2 when i get it in!

going with 3.89 gears...should be fun with the plans for next year!

So thanks in advance Scott for a new Rear End!

is this rearend an direct bolt in can you run abs???

SS4Matt May 16, 2006 10:23 PM

no abs (since i have a 3 channel, abs, but no traction control)...direct bolt in other than that though. Gotta give up some good for some even better..i'll take a 9inch over ABS anyday! :)

I did the same thing you did except the first time my 10 bolt started acting up i ordered the new 9 inch from scott. Wait until you see this thing its bomb proof man. Your gonna love the new set-up.

sstony May 17, 2006 11:27 AM

GOOD STUFF MAN--you're gonna love it. i just got done installing my stange 60 and i feel so much more confident that i have a strong peice of equiptment back there. unfortunately for me, i busted my 10 bolt, 3 different times and never had the $$ to throw down on a built rear--i still didn't so i charged it, but there is no way i'm going to the track and not launching at 6k. my old 10 bolts let me get away with it only a few times before having me call a tow vehicle.

keep us posted on your experience with the 9", driveshaft and the people you are purchasing it from. You're gonna luv it.

SS4Matt May 17, 2006 06:09 PM

yeah i know im gonna love it...no more launching at high RPMs and crossing my fingers and holding my breath and hope to hell it get's home HAHAHA.....i'll definatly update when i get it in and drive it around some....

yeah like i said last fall i didn't have the cash in hand to do the 9inch because of numerous other problems i had fixed last fall...

I know scott has done his fair share of 9inch builds and he's local for me, so it's a pretty good deal.

maybe scott will chime in with all the details of the build :) but i know he's busy as hell right now...took me about a week to even get ahold of him

Kick Ass :hail:

it was funny, when i pulled it apart again, the guy that lives down the street from me (works for Ford, and has a nice old mustang) we're always giving eachother shit for the whole ford vs GM stuff...and when the rear end blew, he was like "so gonna do the sensable thing and throw some ford parts back there?" i laughed and he gave me a Strange catalog....i just gave the catalog back to him earlier tonight and he was just laughin....it's funny cause we're always giving eachother shit, yet we're always helping eachother on our cars

ok so my 9 inch is on order from moser !!!!! i hope it comes quick .

SS4Matt May 20, 2006 03:17 PM

TTT any pics yet scott? im more giddy than a little school girl waiting for this beast of a rear end!

Scott@DrivelineSolutions May 21, 2006 12:12 AM

Sorry I got busy with a couple of Ford's, I'll get something up tomorrow for sure.

Doofy May 21, 2006 10:19 PM

I just finished up my moser 9" install yesterday, an it rocks. Gone are the days worrying about the weak link. The 3.89s & spool are just the ticket for me. Driving on some 245 street tires for a couple of days to break it in easy, then time for mickeys & beatin the piss out of it. Goin to the track on friday and hopefully some new pb's. :drive:

SS4Matt May 21, 2006 10:35 PM

That's kick ass Doofy (nice name haha) i can't wait for mine.... i'll be running my 295 BFG street treads for a while...then im gonna look into some 17x11 ZR1 rims and throw some 315 nitto's on the back...

definatly second the no more worries part....like i said before, no more crossing your fingers and holding your breath and hope to god everything is still working after you left it RIP!

yeah he re-built my 10 bolt last fall. and i've seen plenty of rear ends that he's done as well! Good work, and if all else fails, i know where he lives :jest:

i don't think im going to have any problems with this gigantic rear end with my small head/cam combo i have ..... but next year it'll be bigger and better. i'm just getting everything else ready so the car can take whatever i dish out at it.....

SS4Matt May 24, 2006 11:19 PM

well the 9 is finally home. picked it and my new driveshaft up today...i was going to get started on it...but once i got home...i was too tired. hopefully i'll get crack'n on it tomarrow after work. took a few pics of it...kinda shitty but you get the idea...i can't wait to get it in, and broken in.

Thanks Again Scott...this thing is Pretty kick ass
