3.90's for 10bolt??

I just heard Motive is now producing 3.90 gears for 10 bolts. Looks like I'm swappin! 3.90 seems like the perfect ratio. :)

Let us know how they are at the track. That gear should be pretty good for an auto. Do you drive much freeway?

SVT THIS May 19, 2006 12:00 AM

Thunder racing already has 3.90s for the 10 bolt (3 series carrier). Will these new gears work with a 2 series??

No i don't.

I figured they would be out for a 2 series carrier, if they arent out yet they better be soon..

Would these be a good idea for a 6 speed car? or are they still too tall? I like the idea of a mix between 3.42's and 4.10' (3.90s).

VaderWS6 May 19, 2006 02:04 PM

Thats what I would like to know. How do 3.90's compare to 4.10's? I can't decide which to get for my m6.

gillbot May 19, 2006 02:10 PM

hmm, i may go to those from the 3.42's in my a4 car now!

WickedC5 May 19, 2006 03:59 PM

Are 3:90s too much for A4. Im thinking about doing this to my A4 vette. thanks

88GTA May 19, 2006 04:53 PM

i am getting a 9inch with 3.89s installed soon (hopefully by this time next week!)
i'll let you guys know what i think after i get them.

88GTA Jul 5, 2006 06:56 PM

I finally got these.
HOLY CRAP! it feels awesome now, i love 3.90 gears. 6th gear is so usable now all the way down to 1k rpm.

so, for anyone wondering if 3.90s are good, the answer is yes.

SVT THIS Jul 5, 2006 07:04 PM

Where did you get them??? Do they have them available for a "2" series carrier??

99huggerorangeZ Jul 5, 2006 07:15 PM

do you have a link? or do any of our sponsors sell these?

Cool that's what I've been waiting for. I've already done the math and the 3.90s work out excellant for off drag strip use, since 4th gear is useable all the way up to roughly 120, versus the 4.10's 112, which is handy for road courses. Just wanted to know if the actual pick up increase was worth the cost. Have you run any times yet, and is 1st gear still useable?

mcamp001 Jul 5, 2006 09:19 PM

anyone have a link for these? I don't see them on Motives site

323 to a 342? :eyes: :jest: i heard they preform well

88GTA Jul 5, 2006 09:31 PM

Maybe I should clarify...
by 'these' i meant the moser 9" w/3.89s (3.90 whatever) i had mentioned in my previos post. sorry for any confusion.

To buy them, just get a moser 9" and ask for 3.90s.

i haven't been to the track yet, i just finished the break in period for the gears. I hope to go in a few weeks.

ss2668 Jul 5, 2006 10:23 PM

Thunder Racing has them on there site. I will be buying a set next week :drive:

mcamp001 Jul 6, 2006 09:22 PM

thanks! about to order

SVT THIS Jul 6, 2006 10:14 PM

Does anyone carry 3.90s for a "2" series carrier?
